Dave Gardner’s “Thank God It’s Monday” 01AUG11

“Thank God It’s Monday” is to help companies thrive!

This week’s focus: business execution

We’ve got more than enough stress in our lives without the debt limit drama going on in Washington, D.C., and the implications of defaulting. The business world does not engage in polarized debate for very long–we figure it out and move on.

Business and investors become paralyzed with the uncertainty this situation is creating in our already fragile economy.

Uncertainty ⇒  fear ⇒ inaction ⇒ economic malaise.

A doctor takes an oath to “do no harm.” Thankfully, doctors don’t sign an oath to “send a message” when challenges arise. Perhaps there is something to be learned here.

I hope by the time this is published, this drama will be over and no residual harm will have been done. Then, we can get back to what we should be focusing on: thriving, growing our businesses, and adding value to other people’s lives.

Thought for the week:

“In terms of the debt stand-off, I think that it’s very noble of Congress to try so hard to make the world’s largest economy look as sickly as the Greek’s.” – Stuart Cross, UK Consultant
