“Thank God It’s Monday” is to help companies thrive!
This week’s focus: business execution
Winston Churchill offered, “You can judge a society by how it treats its prisoners.” What we know about prisons in Iran, North Korea, Honduras and many other countries on earth is horrifying.
There is another way to judge a society: how it treats it’s military veterans. It is taking 300 days for a veteran to get a first treatment appointment with the Veteran’s Administration (VA) health system in America. Ten months is outrageous.
While the VA is feeling increased demand for services from returning Iraq and Afghanistan combat veterans, the enemy the vets face at home is a paper-based system for handling patient files that has evolved little since World War II. It is the height of inefficiency. Nothing can happen without paper-based files being moved about via interoffice transfer systems.
This is is a national travesty. The U.S. must fix this.
Thought for the week:
“There came a time when the risk to remain tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.” – Anais Nin
